Jamie has been in the orthodontic field for 9 years. She has said what she enjoys about the world of orthodontics is the unique blend of patients: kids who want to improve their teeth so they can feel more confident in their smile and adults who always wanted braces but for numerous reasons couldn't get them when they were younger. Orthodontics is also fascinating in that every patient's case is different, there is never a dull moment, and there are so many techniques to improve one's overall smile and bite.
Jamie says, "I'm a family girl, I don't have kids as of yet but I have twin 10 year-old nieces that fulfill that spot in my life right now. I have been volunteering at my nieces' school since they started kindergarten. It's been amazing to watch the growth of all the kids since the beginning. I have a love for crafting. This is a skill I'm able to incorporate into all areas of my life; for the most part, it helps me wind down. I enjoy road trips (short or long) – I'm still exploring Washington. Some of my favorite locations are Snoqualmie Falls, Deception Pass and Friday Harbor.
Barb has been in the orthodontic field for the past 39 years, and has worked for Dr. Surbeck for the past 12 years. Barb and her husband have lived in Bellevue for the past 37 years, where they raised their son, who is now married and has given her two wonderful grandchildren. In Barb's spare time, she enjoys gardening, walking, traveling, being with friends, attending her ladies' bible study and Skyping with her grandchildren who live in Pennsylvania.
Assisting patients and doctors in the orthodontic field has been a 20-plus-year passion for Merrilee. Whether it's ordering products, making trays for bracket application or assisting chairside, she's continually looking for ways to make your experience the best possible. Merrilee and her husband, Bruce, have two grown children and a new grandson in Oregon. Horses have always been a part of her life and she currently volunteers at Little Bit Therapeutic Riding School. Gardening, hiking and anything outdoors rank high on Merrilee's list of things to do.
Debbie is our financial coordinator. She has been in the orthodontic field since 1979. What she enjoys most about orthodontics is: "The opportunity we have to develop great relationships with our patients and their families. Being part of making beautiful smiles is so rewarding. After having a house full of soccer players, my husband Rick and I are now sharing the house with our dog and cat. I love to play with the grandkids, read, crochet, and travel."
Becky has 6 years of clinical assisting knowledge and is now branching out to New Patient care and scheduling. She graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry for dental assisting in 2009. She started working for Dr. Surbeck in 2015 and enjoys getting to know all the amazing families that come into the practice. She was born and raised in Indiana and made the move to Washington with her husband in 2014. She has a toddler son that is full of energy and definitely keeps her on her toes! Becky lives in Snoqualmie and enjoys hiking, cooking, and exploring all that Washington has to offer.
Marji has been in the dental field for 9 years. She loves her job because she loves greeting and visiting with our patients and their families. She was born in Seattle, but moved to New York when she was 8 years old. She is now happy to have moved back to Washington 25 years ago and is here to stay! Her interest is in all things culinary: cooking & baking, magazines, cooking shows, restaurants. Also, ask her about her grandkids, she’ll be happy to share!
